Shadow Gap LED Lighting – Concealed Light Detail
SA Solutions drywall profiles create a perfectly dimensioned recess for concealed LED strip lighting at skirting, ceiling and feature wall junctions. The LED source sits completely hidden inside the shadow gap, with light washing outward along the adjacent surface – no visible fittings, no surface-mounted channels, no clips.
Because the profiles sit within the plasterboard build-up, the recess is clean, consistent and precisely formed end to end. For LED installations, a wider shadow gap is recommended – typically 10mm or 12mm – to accommodate the LED strip and allow the light to project outward effectively.
Gypsum profiles outperform aluminium or PVC trims for LED applications. Surface-mounted trims allow finishing compound to build up unevenly at the edges – a filler ridge known in the trade as gather – which narrows or distorts the channel and produces an uneven light line. SA Solutions profiles sit within the plasterboard build-up, pre-engineered to a consistent depth and width along their entire length. The result is a clean, straight, even light line from end to end.
